Publishing is a relationship. It doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.
It’s not helpful to compare your relationship to your friends’ relationships or a rom-com ideal. Likewise, don’t let individual publishing plans plot your path.
You don’t need to land a traditional publisher to reach your audience in the “right way.”
You don’t need to self-publish to maintain your autonomy.
You can navigate your own publishing plan by being clear on your reasons for writing, and knowing your audience and what they need from your book.
Stick to your vision for your book, and help your publisher understand it by charting out an overview or a book proposal.
Work with your publishing team so you’re all showing up with the best intentions and shared goals.
