Today I attended the annual Park People Park Summit at Daniels Spectrum. This free event attracts City parks and rec staff, park friends groups, and lovers of parks. It’s always wildly popular, and features speakers and stories from groups in Toronto and around North America.
This year’s Park Summit also marked the launch of Park People’s new report, Sparking Change. Lead researcher and writer Jake Tobin Garrett summarizes the report in this way:
Sparking Change tells the story of communities that have taken action to become more engaged in their local parks through spearheading improvements, engaging diverse community members, and organizing events and activities that draw people into the park—a process we refer to as “park engagement.”
I had the pleasure of copyediting this report for Park People. I volunteered with Park People when it first began several years ago, helping to formalize its communications, so it’s an especially lovely feeling to be working alongside staff in this capacity.
Does your organization need an editor for its print or digital materials? If so, I’d be happy to chat! Please drop me a line.
